Why it Is So Important to Brush Before Bed

Posted on 1/20/2018 by Dr. Kelsey Ullsmith
As you sleep, you don't wonder about the bacteria around you or in your mouth that accumulates. You're probably counting sheep and thinking about everything you have to do the next day. With this being said, it is extremely important that you brush your teeth before bed for various reasons. While you can still think of your to-do list, you also want to remember that oral hygiene is the best way to go when it comes to turning off those lights and tucking yourself into bed. Brushing at Nighttime is Best Nighttime brings out the bacteria that are in your mouth. It sits in there, causes bad breath and sometimes your mouth might even become dry. When it does, this causes the bacteria to grow and eat through the teeth. When you have sugar stuck on the outside, it eats through the enamel which essentially protects the outside of the teeth. You don't want to worry about getting cavities, so when it comes to nighttime, brushing is the best way to go to remove any and all build up that might be found on the outside of the teeth. Never have to worry about not being able to get more out of the teeth that you have. Nighttime brushing is always essential for just about anyone. Make sure that you're brushing twice a day and flossing at least once, if not twice. This is the best plan of action for healthier gums and teeth overall. Speak with our dental office to find out more regarding the brushing and flossing you should be doing at night. The dentists can give even more tips and tricks on how to have a healthier mouth overall. They want to make sure that you get the best oral care possible.
